The Difference Between Being In Love And Just Being Attached

Is it love, or is it just attachment?

We all have those friends who jump from relationship to relationship, and each time, they are “totally and completely in love.”

For those of us who have been single longer than two of their relationships combined, we can’t help but wonder how someone can possibly be “in love” with all these people.

I mean, come on. It’s not love. It’s fear of being alone. Right?

Yes. And no. I mean we can’t calculate love any more than we can election polls or Miley’s next erotic exorcism. It’s just something you get a feeling about.

But what if your feeling is wrong? What if you’re just so damn scared of being alone that anyone who comes close to making you feel safe and secure feels like your soulmate?

You know those relationships you got out of, and after a few months, you couldn’t believe you ever said those three beautiful words to someone you wouldn’t want to be seen with today? How could you love someone so grotesque? Someone so not your type? Someone so shallow?

Well, it’s usually because it wasn’t love. It was attachment.

I have no real insight in knowing if your love is real or if it’s just insecurity masked in AXE body spray, but I can give you some general pointers. They’re the kind of pointers to show your friend because she’s becoming way too attached to that douchebag you thought for sure would be a one-night stand.

Because you don’t want to attend a wedding where the only thing the bride has to say about the groom is that “he’s always there.” And if you’re not sure about your own love motives, take a look at the list to decipher if what you’re doing is worth all the time invested.

Love is passionate; attachment is apathetic

They say the closest feeling to love is hate, hence why after you break up with someone, all that beautiful, selfless love turns into raging, passionate, inexplicable hate.

When you’re just attached to someone, however, you never really get that rage. You get paranoia, anxiety and moments of irritation, but you don’t let those anxious feelings confuse you for something as beautiful and important as real hate.

THE EXISTENCE OF LOVE

        Love is a universal feeling. Everybody wants it, needs it, and seeks for it. It is an essential feeling that people require as part of survival. Love is wonderful, magical, mysterious, amazing, forgiving, accepting, affection, and embracing. It is not necessary that love exists only between opposite sexes but love is between human kind, between brothers, sisters, brothers and sisters, parents and children, husband and wife, between neighbors, between friends, and between nations. Therefore, nobody can deny the existence of love in this world. Love creates smiles in our faces, and makes our day complete. Man cannot live without love as what I’ve said; love is a way of survival. The existence of love in this world becomes phenomenon since all of us feel and experience it! It created atmospheric condition that will take place either good or bad condition, but when people believed and trust on it, everything will follow and so on and so fort. How does love started? What do you think? Well, for me love starts when you love yourself first more than else. Love and respect yourself first so that you will learn to love others. That’s the most important thing that we should consider here. Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all and if you do it by yourself you accomplish the biggest reward in your life. Then, after achieving it, you’ll now ready to love others and expect the holy presence of love. Moreover, Love is the most wonderful gift we can ever hope to give or receive. Love is one thing that can overcome so many difficult times that we are faced with in life. Love is so powerful, it can turns frowns into smiles. It can help mend the most broken heart; it can even turn all of the ugliness in the world into the most beautiful portrait we could ever have the pleasure to be hold. 

     Everybody has felt it at one time or another, person, pet or even non-living things go through the so called love. Love felt in different intensities. We have many reasons to feel in love, we can love many things, we can love different people. Love is rarely defined because everyone experiences it differently. How does one know he or she is in love? How is it impossible to distinguish between the love of romance and the love shared between friends? In order to define love, we need to first understand the two major types of love: romantic love and friendship love. People often define romantic love based on its difference from friendship love. Romantic love is often confused with infatuation because it is all consuming. Romantic lovers are usually on each other’s mind. A person may make decisions based on his or her romantic partner. To love another is the supreme sacrifice of self. For we must give freely and completely of ourselves to another, without reservation or condition. It includes intense passion, intense pleasure, and intense emotional and sexual desire that are part of romantic love. Respect is one of the main concerns when it comes to relationship. On the other hand, Friendship love may help people through hard times as much as any other type of love.  Friendship love is often the longest lasting type of love in many people’s lives.  For lots of people friendship love has been the most reliable kind of love in their lives.  Friendship love can be the type of love that has the least complications, hassles and problems.  In the lives of no small number of people it is friendship love that has been the deepest and most profound type of love they have experienced. It is friendship love that gets that friend to stand by you as you blunder and struggle with your life, and your flaws and shortcomings.  It is friendship love that motivates a friend not to give up on you even when you are being absurdly wrong, stupid and self-defeating. Love between friends strengthens the bond of friendship. They can never think of betraying one another. A friendship based on love is never affected by selfish motives. Each one is ready to make a sacrifice for the other. Even differences of opinions don't hinder the strong bonds of friendship. We enjoy each and every moment with our friends. We forget all worries and hardship of life when we are with them. Love between friends, thus generates happiness.

    Love is not always ends happily, it is a mixture of feelings whether negative or positive sides. In love, you might experiencing anger, mistakes, heartaches, harshness, impatience, envy, revenge, expectation, and even troubles that you might experiencing throughout the unpredictable world of love.  The word love has crested numerous meaning by the different kinds of people on earth; the significance of love is widely spread throughout the universe. However, you have the freedom on how you apply love in your most creative and sufficient way.

     Love fills a person with noble feelings: compassion, sympathy, sacrifice, understanding, welfare etc. Another side of love is the affection of mother to her children. A mother's love for her children is something very divine. She is forever ready to suffer any hardship for the happiness of her children. Love between a child and a mother is the purest form of love. Love of a mother is so deep and eternal that she can understand even those things which her child doesn't even speak. Unconditional love is what a mother can give to her children.

      Love between neighbors brings peace in the neighborhood. People willingly come forward to help one another. They share one another's joys and sorrows. They can never think of causing harm to one another. Love between neighbors strengthens fellow felling. People of such a neighborhood lean a happy life. Neighbors who love and respect one another to have a get-together and festive occasions. They jointly celebrate festivals and enjoy one another's company.                 

      Love is essential, it gives us inspiration to live life to the fullest, and it also motivates us, a way of survival, giving hopes and can fulfill happiness. Love is all we need; love can move mountains in the name of love. Love can turn sadness to happiness. Love causes less stress, less heartaches, less misunderstanding, less of just about everything negative if you handle this in a proper way of your living. Love does reap rewards- happiness, health, joy, peace, and so much more that’s positive. Can you imagine living without love? It’s quite boring right? Living with love in our hearts, in our soul and everything can create a fantastic things and worth living in this world. See, how abundant love is. In general the meaning of love teaches us how we feel each other, how good or bad we are to each other and how much we satisfy or dissatisfy each other. Love truly exists in all aspects of our lives.

 

 

TWO TOOTH FAIRIES

It was nine thirty pm, when suddenly I saw a dazzling pack of chocolates and candies inside a bucket. They looked delicious on its colorful cellophane. It was my lucky night since my mom was sleeping in her room while she doesn’t know that I’m still awake. These are my favorite cocktail snack and I wonder why these candies were placed inside a bucket, well I guest my mom don’t want me to eat all of these stuff to protect my teeth for the reason that she placed this mouth watery chocolates secretly. But still, I’m happy to see those tasty stuffs. I directly open one piece of chocolate and put it into my hungry mouth followed by candies that I eagerly gobbled.

As I looked at inside the bucket I can’t help myself to taste all of those chocolates and candies. I keep on coming back for more and eat some appetizing food. I feel satisfied and contended when they came into my mouth. After eating, I feel so sleepy since it’s already 11’oclock in the evening.  I don’t feel to stand and get some water to drink, so I decided to just directly go to bed and sleep.

Then suddenly, I feel a throbbing pain in my mouth. I was suffering from toothache that makes me trembling all night. I feel upset and irritated of the pain that keeps on attacking me. Even if it’s painful I tried to close my eyes but then the twinge is still there.

Surprisingly, a beautiful and stunning lady was standing beside the window. She looks attractive in her flashing dress, shinning hair, and adorable face. 

“I am a tooth fairy I can help you heal the pain that you suffer now.”

“Yes, I really need you tooth fairy. Please help me! My tooth keeps on aching and I can’t sleep. I need your help.”

Don’t worry darling I will help you but I have a condition.”

“Condition? What is that?”

“By using my magic wand, I can help you whatever pain you suffer right now but I need your mother to come with me and be one of us. I need her to my kingdom.”

“What? My mom? No way. I disagree to your condition. You can ask anything but not my mom.”

“No! I want your mother and no one else.” She angrily said. “You should decide now darling or else that pain you suffer now won’t ease forever.”

She looks angry and started displaying her true color. I feel nervous when she stares at me. Her shinning hair turns wavy and bouncy, her beautiful face turns ugly and her twinkling dress turns black.

  I feel so much worry of what I saw; I don’t know what to do. But I need to be strong and show to her that I can defeat her immorality.

Her eyes is getting bigger and trying to frighten me. Then another tooth fairy entered beside the window and I guest she is a good fairy because she helped protects me from the bad tooth fairy.

“You black tooth fairy don’t need to do this, I know you’re facing a great trouble in your kingdom but please dong include this innocent child in front of you.”

“White tooth fairy stay away to that child or else both of you will die. You know that I need another member of our kingdom and I need her mother to come with me.”

“No! I won’t let that happen. As long as I am here, I will protect this innocent child and her mother.”

“They decided to have a fight using their magic wand. The black tooth fairy feels angry to the white tooth fairy so she first makes a move to fight the white fairy’s power and hoping to win the battle.

They started their fight and I was so nervous on what could happen to me. The black tooth fairy was using her most powerful magic to defeat the power of white tooth fairy but the white fairy have the most powerful magic between them and she successfully overcome the evil fairy’s power.

“You are now free my child, the bad tooth fairy is gone she wont never ever come back again.” She said and showed a winked of smile.

“Thank you very much white tooth fairy, but my tooth are still aching and I don’t know what to do.”

 “Don’t worry child I will help you! But don’t do this again, don’t eat too much sweet food because it can ruin your teeth and you might suffer a great pain. Can you promise that to me?

“I promise! Thank you white tooth fairy.” The pain was easily gone when she says the magic word and she disappear by the heavy clouds.

  

A sound of annoying clock was all I heard. When I open my eyes, I saw my mom picking up the chocolate wrapper while smiling at me.

“Hey darling, wake up! You really love to eat these chocolates? Will, okay I will allow you to eat this but not that many. These sweet foods can ruin your teeth. Do you understand me?

“Mom, I’m sorry. I will not do it again.”

“Its okay, I still love you so much.”

“Thanks mom, you’re awesome. I love you very much.” I hug her and kissed her rosy check.

Then, I remember about what happened last night, ops! All of those were just a dream? Amazing, I thought it was true. O my God. But then again thank you God for waking me up.

THE MAN WHO CAUGHT MY ATTENTION

                                                    

I used to ride on a heavy and crowded jeepney in which you can meet different people coming from different places. Every passenger gets to help one another and sometimes make a total stranger to a great friend. It is where casual conversation takes place. A public set up that shows the true culture of filipino. Showing a winked of smile to a stranger is good a beginning of friendships. Not just a simple smile that creates a good atmosphere inside the jeepney but also an eye-catching man that caught my attention.

It was Monday morning when I quickly put my things inside my bag and prepare to leave the house then hurriedly went into the jeepney station in order for me not to come late in the class. I ride on a jeepney since it offers affordable fare that everyone can truly afford. As we traveled along the road the passengers are getting heavier.  Suddenly I saw a good-looking guy who’s sitting opposite to me. He looked attractive with his polo shirt and maong jean. Of all the passengers inside the jeepney, only him caught my attention. We gazed as if we know each other for a long time.  He had dazzling eyes that makes me shiver every time he gazed at me. That very moment I felt something, my heartbeat runs faster and I don’t know why. I really loved his bright looking eyes and attractive dimple on his right cheek. As our eyes met, we smiled as if our two heart beats as one.

“Hi! Miss, can I asked something?” He said.

“Yes, what is it?” I replied.

“What time is it?”

“It’s already 8:30 am.”

“Ah, thank you miss, I really forgot to bring my watch.”

He again showed his alluring dimple.  I smiled and simply said “you’re welcome.”

            “Anyway, can I know your name, if you don’t mind?” He said.

            “I’m Hanna, and you?” I answered with no hesitation.

            “What a lovely name, by the way my name is Ian. I’m happy to meet you Hanna.”

            “’It’s my pleasure to meet you.” We again smiled at each other. 

As we talked I found out that we have the same school and we decided to go off to school together. As we arrived in front of our school he asked my cell phone number and again with no hesitation I gave my number to him. As we ended our impressive scene we both showed a winked of smile and goes to our separate way. We started communicating through cell phone.

The night before tomorrow he texted me and I am happy to receive his message. He invited me to hang out and I agreed on it. We go out as friends, hang out as friends, talked as friends and end up with lovers. A week later, he confesses his feelings towards me, and I have no reason to discriminate his proposal since I knew that I got an intense feeling since I met him.

Ian is a great man, his loving and caring he gives me tender love like no other man can offer. He shows his affection towards me and we trust each other. In our two month relationship, I wasn’t able to ask about his family because were both busy to our school work. Were both serious in terms of our studies, we pay much attention for it. Texting serves as our communication during our hectic schedule.  

At three-thirty p.m., our class ended. I went outside the classroom, walked through the hallway until I reached the little paradise of our school.  I searched for an available bench so that I could unwind from the mind-squeezing lesson. I closed my eyes and when I opened it, the very first person that I saw was Ian a smile drawn out into my face but suddenly that feeling changed rapidly when I saw a girl drew near him. It seems like they were sweet and were talking joyfully like there’s no other person in the world. From what I had observed, it was very obvious that he had an affair with that silly girl. I hated it!

“So, does this mean that he lied on me?” I asked myself. A part of me broke into pieces. My pinkish cheeks turned red and my eyebrows rose. Jealousy was written all over my face. It really cracked my bones and ruined my day. 

I tried to control my anger but I can’t. I just noticed that my feet dragged me towards them. With no hesitation, I slapped the right corner of his cheeks.

“Ouch! What was that for?” he angrily said.

“That’s for making me feel like an idiot,” again, I hit him on the other part. “And that for my pride.” He touched his now reddish face.

“You have no right to slap me! I can sue for that.” Thinking that he will make things worse, he quickly said, “Can you just explain to me why you did that?”

“Ugh! Do you really think that I forget what you did to me?” I angrily said.

“Why? What I did to you? We haven’t meet, miss.”

“We haven’t met? Are you kidding me? You kissed me in our way here and then you well tell me that we haven’t met? That’s ridiculous!”

“But that’s the truth!” then I saw that he made a mischievous smile. “Oh I see. I guess you’ve meet my twin brother.”

“What? You have a twin?”

“Yes. In fact, he is just watching us. He’s at your back.” I slowly turned around and this man was not lying. I felt the whole world crushed on me.

I felt so shy of what I’ve done that day. I couldn’t imagine that those things happened on me. As he showed his charming dimple, I knew that he is my boyfriend.

After what happened he introduced his twin brother and I was surprised of what I discovered. Ian explains everything and I understand it.  I apologized to his twin brother and I feel so sorry to what I had done to him and to his girlfriend.

Later on he invited me in their house and meets his family. I agree of what he wants to happen and I also want to meet his whole family too.

We again ride on a jeepney where our two hearts met. As we took our journey inside the PUJ, we remembered the first meeting that ends up with passionate feelings. We were showing our smiles when we talked about those incident that bring us to our never ending relationship. Jeepney serves as our first meeting place and build an uplifting feelings to each other.  

After all happened, we find time for us to unwind ourselves for a moment. We went to a place wherein both of us feel each others heartbeat.

We watched the crashing waves of the sea, the flickering stars that were scattered on the dark sky and moon that was in crescent form. That day was the very important day in my life wherein the surroundings were filled with an uplifting feeling. Happy faces were passing by and exchanging smiles to each other. After what happened, we longed together and strengthen our relationship.  Ian and I were contended with each other and promised to continue whatever commitment we have. All we know is we loved each other and meant to each other.
